Have you ever experienced a melatonin hangover?
Not sure what that means? It’s when you wake up feeling super groggy and still tired after taking melatonin the night before.
You see, melatonin is a hormone that regulates your sleep-wake cycle. Darkness prompts your body to produce this sleep hormone, and light suppresses it. Your body’s natural production of melatonin helps to regulate your circadian rhythm.
Synthetic melatonin – found in OTC sleep aids – is often taken when one’s sleep schedule is off and by adults (and even kids) who find they are chronically unable to get a good night’s sleep.
The problem is that when you continue to take melatonin long-term, your body will stop producing its own melatonin and you become more and more dependent on it for sleep and keep increasing the dose in order to actually sleep.
When it comes to melatonin it’s best to make it, not take it.
So, what if there was an all-natural supplement you could take instead that actually helped you to produce more of your own melatonin, allowing you to wind down and get a truly restful sleep so you could wake up in a good mood and ready to tackle the day – would you try it?
